The Middle East is an important potato seed market for Binst Breeding & Selection. The consumption of potatoes per person is very high. The region comes with some climatological challenges for the potato cultivar.

Binst Breeding & Selection is also looking for new varieties that support the challenging weather conditions of the African continent. As soon as potatoes are harvested, they are sorted on the field. Manual labour is still important whilst growing potato.

Big. Bigger. Biggest. When growing potatoes on the American continent, large production fields and intensive industry are kept in mind. Potato growers produce huge quantities of potatoes in a very large scale and use very modern resources for optimalising cultivar and storage.

The continent of Oceania consists of more countries than just Australia. A variety often draws attention thanks to the perfect appearance of the tuber  with a high tubercount and can be grown as big as possible.

In Asia, the continent where rice remains the main crop, the potato is conquerring it’s place in local cuisine. During it’s growthcycle, the potato needs less water than rice and delivers the same nutritional value. With few access to modern storage techniques, potatoes are harvested locally and sold on the fresh market immediately after harvest.
